Remembering Grenfell

At midday today a minute silence will be held across the country to mark the first anniversary of the Grenfell Tower fire. I don't think any of us can put into words the sheer horror of what happened that night despite the heroic actions of our emergency services in trying to save lives.

I'll be remembering the 72 people who lost their lives and those who survived and are trying to get on with their lives. I'll be thinking of the families who have lost loved ones that they will never see again.

However, whilst I remember those who are suffering or suffered. I'll also be thinking about the failures that led to this horrendous disaster that has touched the lives of so many. I hope that when the investigations are finished, not only will we have the definitive answers of why 72 people had their lives stolen from them, but those responsible will be held accountable.
