Personally Speaking: 'We Must Find Cure for Underfunding of NHS'

"The unpredictability of life means that at any time anyone can become a patient, whether in a life-threatening manner or having cactus spines removed from your foot.

Yet at no stage does the doctor or nurse ask you for a credit card or about your ability to pay.

There is no credit check, no awkward explanation about why you missed a couple of payments or any instant payment to make.

On July 5th we marked 70 years since our NHS started to treat people based on their need rather than their ability to pay.

In Britain we are proud of our nation’s collective decision – in the ashes of war and sacrifice – to create a system of care from cradle to grave".

I've written an article on NHS funding for my personally speaking column in the Sentinel. You can read it by clicking this link.
