Last week I wrote a handwritten note to the Secretary of State for Health Jeremy Hunt inviting him to Stoke-on-Trent. This is because despite letters from me and Ruth Smeeth MP we are yet to receive a response to concerns about heath provision and reforms in Stoke-on-Trent and North Staffordshire.
The funding crisis affecting the Royal Stoke Hospital and the loss of community beds deserves his attention. Unfortunately, despite our letters and those of the City Council he is yet to respond satisfactorily.
He has also failed to fulfil his promise to visit the hospital and meet with staff on the frontline. The cynics amongst us might come to the conclusion that he was only interested in these pressing concerns when there was a by-election on and the prospect of electing a Conservative MP.
I'll keep you posted.
