I am delighted to be able to confirm that I will be joining the RAF as part of the Armed Forces Parliamentary Scheme in the coming weeks. The scheme which originated in 1989 is designed to give Members of Parliament and members of other elected bodies the chance to see first-hand the work and lives of those in our armed forces and improve knowledge of the Armed Forces. As part of the scheme I will be joining the RAF for twenty-two days over the following year.
Our armed services do incredible work to give us the freedom and security that we so often taken for granted. It has been my pleasure as your MP to meet local veterans, hear their experiences on the Frontline and hear about their selfless actions and incredible bravery. It is their sacrifice that has kept this country safe and secure. I look forward to joining our brave men and women of the RAF.
