A few weeks ago I had the pleasure of meeting STAND.
(Stoke-on-Trent Area Network for Disability) in my constituency office. STAND are leading a campaign against loneliness in Stoke-on-Trent called the Blue Iris Project. A simple but great idea. You sign a pledge to be open to chat to people when you wear your blue iris badge. The badge is a sign that you will be willing to chat. No pressure, no home visits, you just wear the badge when you feel you have the time to chat. The chats can be anywhere in a public place, shops, bus stops, doctors etc.
I was proud to sign the pledge and get my own badge. If you would like to know more about this tremendous project and sign up yourself, why not visit their website at http://www.stand-stoke.org.uk/blue-iris/
