Gareth meets Staffordshire's new Chief Constable

Story_57.jpg

I had a very productive meeting with Staffordshire's new Chief Constable Gareth Morgan.

We discussed the challenges which are being faced by Staffordshire Police and what we can do to work together to keep all residents in Stoke-on-Trent Central safe.

I raised my concerns about the number of warranted officers in Staffordshire, the poor response times from the 101 non-emergency number and the loss of the 24/7 access to Hanley police station.

Nationally, our police are coming under ever increasing pressure because of funding cuts, loss of officers, rising costs and huge increases in demand.
