Today is A Level results day and for many young people across Stoke-on-Trent and across the country it's going to be a nervous, exciting and for some a disappointing day.
I know how hard young people across Stoke-on-Trent have worked and the incredible work of our local teachers in our schools and colleges. I just wanted to offer some words to you on what is likely to be a day you will remember for the rest of your life.
Firstly. If you've got the grades you needed, then congratulations! You should be hearing from your University of choice soon!
If you've not quite got the grades you needed, then call your University to check to see if they will accept your grades. Sometimes if you've not quite performed as well in your exams as predicted then you can still be accepted.
Finally, if your results weren't what you hoped for and you haven't gotten into one of your primary choices then don't panic. Each University will publish a clearing number which you can call to discuss your results and what other options you have such as a different course. Alternatively, visit https://www.ucas.com/clearing2017 and follow UCAS's very good advice on perhaps choosing a different University or perhaps re-sitting some of your exams.
Whatever your results today, you should be incredibly proud of the work you've put in and certainly don't listen to those saying exams are getting easier or it was tougher in their day.
Whether you're celebrating your results or waiting nervously for news, please remember that a set of scores will not define your future. Whether today is a step forwards or a small step backwards, be confident in your own ability, keep working hard and you will bounce back!
