Gareth calls for debate on CCG scrutiny

Story_70.jpg

On Thursday, I asked the Leader of the House of Commons for a debate about the level of scrutiny given to the decisions and actions of Clinical Commissioning Groups (CCGs) because of the closure of community beds across Stoke-on-Trent and North Staffordshire.

Despite the issue being referred to the Secretary of State Jeremy Hunt he has failed to respond to these concerns from both the local authority and myself. The current situation is simply unacceptable and poses serious questions about whether current health governance structures are fit for purpose and letting down some of the most vulnerable members of our community.
