I’m delighted to have been selected as Labour’s candidate in the upcoming Stoke-on-Trent Central by-election. The Potteries is my home. It’s where I met my wife and where my daughter, Hannah, was born and goes to school. And when she needed emergency surgery when she was a few weeks old, it was the staff of Royal Stoke who looked after her.
My main priorities will be to defend our local health services and to fight for a Brexit deal that will bring jobs and investment to the Potteries. We were right to stop handing our money over to Brussels, but we need to make sure it comes here to Stoke-on-Trent instead.
I will put the interests of our City at the heart of everything that I do. Whether it’s fighting for Royal Stoke Hospital, helping local businesses, or supporting our decision to leave Europe, I promise to stand up for people in Stoke-on-Trent – whether people in Westminster like it or not.
